WMOC 2020, visit of the IOF Commissioner
While fights for titles and medals are ongoing on the opposite side of the globe in New Zealand at World Masters Orienteering Championships 2017, activities related to assigning organization of this event for 2020 (WMOC 2020) are taking place in Europe.
In connection with assessment of the candidacy of Slovakia, a visit to Košice was held in recent days by Mr. Áron Less, a representative of the International Orienteering Federation IOF. A similar visit is also being held at our counter-candidates - ITA and GBR. The final decision about organizer of the WMOC will be made in early July during the IOF Presidency meeting in Estonia.
During the visit of Mr. Less, inspections of terrains along with competition arenas, event center and accommodation facilities, used in case of successful candidature, were conducted. The structure of the organizing committee was also presented and several questions related to securing of the organization were answered. Short briefing with journalists was held as well.
