SZOŠ | PreWTOC 2025 and the great results of Jonatán Furucz

During the weekend of September 7-8, 2024, races included in the world ranking series and the European Cup in exact orientation took place. At the same time, this race was a preparatory race before the World Championships 2025 (WTOC 2025), which is being prepared by the Slovak Association of Orienteering Sports in cooperation with the Hungarian Association. Just as the World Championships will be held on the territory of two countries, the preparatory races during the past weekend also had two parts. On Saturday, the race was held in Hungary and on Sunday in Slovakia, near the village of Chtelnica. The technical support of the Slovak part of the race was taken over by the members of the ŠK Farmaceut Bratislava club with the generous help of approximately forty volunteers from other clubs, with the support of the village of Chtelnica and local entrepreneurs. 90 competitors from 15 countries took part in the race. In the presence of the world's best, only junior Jonatán Furucza (16 years old) did well. In Hungary, Csákberény in the PreO discipline took an excellent 3rd place in the overall ranking, while he took the highest place in the junior category. On Sunday, Slovakia competed in the TempO discipline. Jonatán again gave a great performance and placed 4th overall, in the junior category he placed 2nd. Another successful discipline for Slovakia was the PreO sprint race, where Pavol Bukovac fought his way to an excellent 2nd place.
